You may have come to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to explore the beaches and casinos but there is much more to do. Why not explore one or more of the many Bayous that are connected to the Bay St. Louis or Biloxi Bay. There are many inlets, some are rivers.
My favorite is Old Fort Bayou, a classic bayou with all of the elements one would expect. Grasslands support large bird and fish populations. Beautiful trees and many custom homes to view. The great thing about Old Fort Bayou is that the water is calm on most days.
People kayak and canoe along with paddle boarding up and down the 10-mile stretch of navigable water. Jet skis, powerboats, and fishing boats blend in.
Rent a boat in Biloxi at one of the marinas and ask for directions. If you are hungry, there are several restaurants located on the bayou, just pull up and order.
