Thunderbirds visit Keesler AFB and the Mississippi Gulf Coast

Keesler Air Force Base (AFB) hosts public events such as air shows and open houses intermittently, without a fixed annual schedule. For instance, the base is planning the “Thunder Over the Sound” air show featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds on November 1-2, 2025.  The frequency of these events can vary, so it’s advisable to check Keesler AFB’s official channels regularly for the most current information. You can visit their official website or follow their Facebook page for updates on upcoming events and exhibits

St Patricks Day Parade

Get ready to wear your best emerald green! This year, everyone is Irish as the Hibernia Irish Society brings its iconic St. Patrick’s Day Parade to a brand-new location. In a significant shift for the South Mississippi tradition, the celebration is moving from the streets of Biloxi to the charming downtown of Ocean Springs. On Saturday, March 14, 2026, the community will gather not just for a parade, but for a day-long festival celebrating heritage, community, and a healthy dose of Irish mischief.

The festivities kick off early at 10 a.m., with local shops and restaurants offering morning specials to get everyone in the spirit. The main event begins at 1 p.m., as the parade rolls from Front Beach and follows the traditional downtown route. Led by the Colleen and Grand Marshal, the procession will feature spirited floats and local bands. Keep your eyes peeled and your hands ready—in true Irish tradition, the “throws” often include shamrock beads and even the occasional head of cabbage!

As the sun begins to set, the party only intensifies. After 4 p.m., Ocean Springs’ famous nightlife joins the fray with green-themed drinks, Irish-inspired cuisine, and live music ringing through the streets. This move to Ocean Springs marks an exciting new chapter for the Hibernia Irish Society, as the city continues to expand its calendar of premier coastal events. Whether you are coming for the family-friendly atmosphere or the evening revelry, be sure to find your spot early and prepare to paint the town green!
