Thunderbirds visit Keesler AFB and the Mississippi Gulf Coast

Keesler Air Force Base (AFB) hosts public events such as air shows and open houses intermittently, without a fixed annual schedule. For instance, the base is planning the “Thunder Over the Sound” air show featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds on November 1-2, 2025.  The frequency of these events can vary, so it’s advisable to check Keesler AFB’s official channels regularly for the most current information. You can visit their official website or follow their Facebook page for updates on upcoming events and exhibits

St Patricks Day Parade

Get ready to wear your best emerald green! This year, everyone is Irish as the Hibernia Irish Society brings its iconic St. Patrick’s Day Parade to a brand-new location. In a significant shift for the South Mississippi tradition, the celebration is moving from the streets of Biloxi to the charming downtown of Ocean Springs. On Saturday, March 14, 2026, the community will gather not just for a parade, but for a day-long festival celebrating heritage, community, and a healthy dose of Irish mischief.

The festivities kick off early at 10 a.m., with local shops and restaurants offering morning specials to get everyone in the spirit. The main event begins at 1 p.m., as the parade rolls from Front Beach and follows the traditional downtown route. Led by the Colleen and Grand Marshal, the procession will feature spirited floats and local bands. Keep your eyes peeled and your hands ready—in true Irish tradition, the “throws” often include shamrock beads and even the occasional head of cabbage!

As the sun begins to set, the party only intensifies. After 4 p.m., Ocean Springs’ famous nightlife joins the fray with green-themed drinks, Irish-inspired cuisine, and live music ringing through the streets. This move to Ocean Springs marks an exciting new chapter for the Hibernia Irish Society, as the city continues to expand its calendar of premier coastal events. Whether you are coming for the family-friendly atmosphere or the evening revelry, be sure to find your spot early and prepare to paint the town green!

How to Build a Successful Trade Business That Can Grow Beyond You RetireCoast

click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedStarting a trade business is one accomplishment. Building a successful trade business that can eventually operate without depending entirely on you is something very different. In this episode of the RetireCoast Podcast, we continue following Jake Miller and Gulf Coast Plumbing Experts as Jake learns that becoming a business owner is only the beginning.A plumber, electrician, HVAC technician, carpenter, or other skilled professional can leave a job, start a company, and quickly discover that they haven't really escaped employment—they've simply created a demanding new job for themselves. The long-term objective is different:Build a company, not just a job.We explore how a skilled tradesperson can begin making that transition through excellent customer service, repeatable systems, carefully timed hiring, professional relationships, referrals, partners and junior partners, financial discipline, and eventually developing people who can assume responsibilities that once belonged entirely to the founder. You'll also hear some of my own experiences building businesses, including why I believe you should wait as long as reasonably possible before hiring, why I've sometimes gone without a paycheck to make sure employees were paid, and why the responsibility of employing someone should never be taken lightly. We also return to our railroad metaphor. Growth creates branch lines everywhere. Some can strengthen your business. Others can distract you from the main track. And we'll discuss one of my favorite business principles:Never simply say no to a good customer. That doesn't mean performing work you aren't qualified or licensed to perform. It means developing a network of excellent tradespeople and professionals so that when a customer has a problem you can't solve, you can help connect them with someone who can.I've practiced this approach for years in property management, real estate, and investment-property ownership. The referrals and introductions I've made to small businesses and tradespeople have been worth hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past decade—and I've never needed a referral fee or markup to make those relationships valuable.Excellent people refer excellent people. That's how networks grow. And that's one way a small trade business can become something much larger than its founder. Most importantly, we explore a principle that will follow Jake throughout this series:Your business needs to become separate from you.Customers eventually need to trust the company, not only Jake.Employees need systems.Future leaders need responsibility. The company needs a reputation of its own.And someday, if Jake wants to sell Gulf Coast Plumbing Experts and retire, a buyer needs to be purchasing a business—not merely buying Jake's personal job.Read the complete RetireCoast guide:How to Build a Successful Trade Business That Can Grow Beyond YouFollow Jake Miller and Gulf Coast Plumbing Experts:Gulf Coast Plumbing ExpertsThis is the next chapter in our journey from skilled worker → business owner → business builder → eventual sale and retirement.Become excellent at your trade. Build an excellent business. Then build it so excellence no longer depends entirely on you.Support the show🎙️ Enjoyed This Episode?Subscribe to the RetireCoast Podcast for practical conversations about retirement planning, financial preparedness, estate planning, entrepreneurship, and life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.👉 Visit RetireCoast.com for in-depth articles, calculators, decision tools, checklists, and guides that expand on the topics we cover in each episode.📋 Looking for more advanced planning resources?Explore our membership programs:• Estate Planning Membership — Build and organize your legacy with decision tools, trust planning resources, trustee selection guidance, emergency preparedness documents, and more.• Business Builder Membership — Access tools and resources designed to help entrepreneurs, retirees, side-hustlers, and small business owners start, manage, and grow a successful business.• All Access Membership — Receive complete access to both memberships and our entire premium planning library.Learn more at:https://retirecoast.com/estate-planning-membership/https://retirecoast.com/business-builder-membership/https://retirecoast.com/all-access-membership/💬 Have a question or a topic you'd like us to cover?Email: info@retirecoast.com…
